Surgical Microscope

The introduction of the surgical microscope in endodontics has revolutionized the field of surgical and nonsurgical root canal therapy. The ability to see micro-details (otherwise unobservable by the naked eye or even magnification glasses or loupes) allows us to perform precision treatment faster and more comfortably.

Missing internal tooth anatomy is often the cause of persistent root canal disease or failed previously performed root canal treatment. Microscopes often allow us to identify and access internal tooth anatomy that would otherwise be missed, insuring increased levels of success in primary and retreatment cases. In some cases, details noted with the help of a microscope can prevent us from performing treatment on cases that are unlikely to heal.
